Are your products 100% Organic?
Whenever there is a choice for supplies that are certified USDA organic, we choose it. However, many of the plants we use do not qualify for these certifications because they are wild harvested, or foraged. For example, we seek out frankincense that is sustainably gathered by local communities in Africa, India, Oman and Yemen. In these instances, it is more important for us to support sustainable harvesting of the endangered Boswellia tree (which provides the frankincense resin) and find fair trade sources where the money from our purchase goes directly to the local harvesting communities to benefit them.
Are you products safe for all ages and skin types?
Unless you have a specific allergy to one of our ingredients, all of our products except our Pine & Menthol Chest Rub are safe for all ages and skin types. They are even gentle enough to apply to your face and around your eyes if desired! However, we all react differently to plants and oils and it is always a good idea to do a small spot check before covering yourself in product if you are unsure of how your skin will react.
What is the shelf life of your products?
All of our products are free from preservatives, which means they won't last as long as a Twinkie. We generally recommend using all of our products within one year of purchase. Some of the herbs, spices and resins we use are natural preservatives, so you may find some of our products last longer. If a product is past its prime chances are you can see or smell if your herbal oil or salve has gone bad. Feel free to use your discretion, but when in doubt throw it out!
When will my products be shipped?
Orders will be shipped within 5-7 business days of placing your order. Once the product has shipped, depending on the carrier it may take up to one week for your order to arrive at your home.
We have this timeline because all of our products are handmade in small batches to ensure optimal freshness, shelf life and quality for the customer. This means that we do not create new product until orders have been placed. Everything is made fresh for you! You will never receive a product that has been sitting in storage for months or years on end. All orders are fulfilled in the order they are received.
What if my salve melts?
We use enough beeswax in our salves to keep them from melting at normal temperatures. (Even summertime shipments to Texas!) However, if exposed to extremely high temperatures there is a chance your salve could melt. Not to worry! If you are concerned your salve might be melted or you open it and find it liquid, simply place it on your countertop for 20 minutes or until it is room temperature. The salve will solidify again and be just as good as new.
My salve is cracked or blotchy. Is it bad?
Sometimes when the salves solidify cracks form in the surface. No need to worry! There is no effect on the quality of the product. Likewise, sometimes when it solidifies you will see some circular patterns from the beeswax. It's just the beauty of all natural products!
